Synthesis of non-precious PCP complexes via oxidative addition under solvothermal conditions

Synthetic reactions should be fast and atom efficient and therefore often transition metals are used as catalyst. Pincer complexes are playing a significant role due to their stability and the possibilities to modify them. In this work, a new type of PCP ligand with Cl located at the benzene ring between the two nitrogen linkers and the synthesis of non-precious PCP pincer complexes, will be reported. One of the benefits of the new ligand system is that agostic interactions can be avoided [1]. The group six metals, Fe and Mn PCP pincer complexes were successful synthesised with the so-called solvothermal method and characterised (Figure 1) [2]. Furthermore, the reduction, oxidation and hydrating properties of the different complexes were investigated.
