Electrophilic cyclization reactions have been gained big importance last decades. They have been used for the synthesis of a variety of important heterocyclic compounds including indoles, benzofurans, carbazoles etc. These molecules have very important roles inĀ pharmaceutical chemistry and material chemistry. For example, they have been used as analgesic, antiinflammatory, antibacterial antiparasitic, antitussive, hypoglycemic, anticancer and antitumor agents. Moreover, small heterocyclic compounds have been used in organic solar cells, optoelectronic devices for clean energy. Although, there are many synthetic methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds in literature, many scientist are trying to novel and efficient methodologies for the formation of new heteroaromatic compounds. In the present study, we developed novel methodologies for the synthesis of potentially biologically active thieno-dibenzothiophene derivatives via iodide-catalyzed electrophilic cyclization reactions. The details of our results will be presented in meeting.
