New enzyme-PdNPs bionanohybrid as heterogeneous catalyst for C-H activation reactions under moderate conditions
The efficient, green and straightforward synthesis of a novel heterogeneous enzyme-Pd (0) nanoparticles (PdNPs) bionanohybrid is described. PdNPs were synthesized in situ from an aqueous palladium salt solution and embedded on the protein structure at room temperature. A designed Geobacillus thermocatenulatus lipase (GTL) variant – genetically modified to introduce a unique cysteine on the lid-site and chemically modified by the introduction of a tailor-made cysteine-containing complementary peptide- was used as protein acting as stabilizing and reducing agent for the nanoparticles formation.
The GTL-PdNPs bionanohybrid was an excellent catalyst in the C-C bond formation by Heck reaction (C-H activation) at moderate conditions.
